• Welcome to District 162! Comprised of seven schools, we serve students from pre-K through 8th grade, serving the communities of Matteson, Richton Park, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, and University Park in the south suburbs of Chicago.

This week in SD 162

  • WELCOME BACK DISTRICT 162 FAMILIES!! All District 162 staff have been busy prepping for your return. The building and grounds staff have finished air-conditioning all rooms at Arcadia and Matteson, upgraded the front entrance of Huth, deep cleaned all buildings and finished many other building enhancements and repairs throughout the district. 

    • The Principals, Assistant Principals, and teachers have spent many days and weeks throughout the summer attending professional development and putting the plans in place for a fantastic school year.
    • Transportation staff have been busy setting-up all bus routes and working with our bus company, Kickert, to insure a smooth opening. 
    • We hope you are ready and eager to join us on the first day of school which is Monday, August 26th.  Don’t forget that we dismiss at 10:45 a.m. that day. 
      • In addition, we will have 1:25 p.m. early dismissals from Tuesday, August 27th through Friday, September 6th.  Normal schedules, including the Illinois School Extended Day Program for our 7th and 8th graders, begins Monday, September 9th.  If you have any questions regarding the beginning of school, please reach out to your school’s Principal at any time.  We look forward to a GREAT school year!!

    Want a great way to get more involved in your child's school?  Join the school's Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO).  Information on how to join the PTSO for your local school can be found on your school's homepage.  PTSO membership is open to all parents of District 162 students.
