Welcome to District 162! Comprised of seven schools, we serve students from pre-K through 8th grade, serving the communities of Matteson, Richton Park, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, and University Park in the south suburbs of Chicago.
This week in SD 162
Matteson School District 162 Election of Services for the 1st quarter of the 2020-2021 school year.
District 162 has established procedures and protocols for the reopening of schools. The district is allowing students to attend school in-person utilizing a hybrid plan where students attend school in-person two days per week and remotely three days per week. In general, students with last names starting with letters A-K are assigned to attend in-person Mondays and Wednesdays and students with last names starting with letters L-Z are assigned to attend in-person Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students who have siblings with a different last name will be placed on the same schedule. When students are not attending school in-person, they will be attending virtually from home.
All students in grades 1-8 will be given a district-issued laptop or Chromebook for virtual learning use at home and in school. Parents and guardians who wish to view the details of the district’s plan may click here.
Parents or guardians who do not wish for their child to attend school in-person can, instead, choose to have their child attend virtually from home five days per week. This election can be made or changed each quarter.
Whether attending in-person or remotely, it is essential that all students are registered and respond to a short election of services NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, JULY 30, 2020. Please click HERE to indicate the preferences for your child for the 1st quarter of the school year.
