2021-2022 School Year
Hello Southland Family,
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer and gearing up for a new school year. We have a few pieces of information to relay to you prior to the start of the school year.
· In accordance with the RESOLUTION passed by the Illinois State Board of Education requiring all public schools to reopen for in-person instruction for the 2021–22 school year, Southland’s educational structure for the upcoming year will be full in-person learning.
· The first day of school for each grade level is as follows:
Freshmen: Thursday, August 12
Freshmen and Sophomores: Friday, August 13
All Students: Monday, August 16
· The school day will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.
We will continue to require that all students, staff and visitors wear a face covering while in the building and on school property, as well as on the bus. We will revisit the need to continue to mask after the 1st quarter.
· Students are expected to be in full uniform on the first day of school.
Southland is prepared with a comprehensive return-to-school plan that incorporates the most recent recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Illinois State Board of Education.
