Dear Richton Square School Families,                                                                          August 2022

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! My name is Mrs. Kim McGuire and I am the new Principal at Richton Square School. I am honored to be joining the staff and I look forward to meeting the children and families which make up our community. Special greetings to our newest families as well as a welcome back to our returning Pre-Kindergartener families!

I trust that the summer has provided you with time to relax. Our faculty and staff are preparing for a year of amazing growth for your child.  Childhood is full of exciting new seasons and the first day of school is one of these milestones.  This is the beginning of a journey that will lead them on a road of discovery.

For many children, this may be their first experience of separation from family. It is common for even the most outgoing child to feel anxious as the school year begins.  For this, fun activities have been specially planned for our children so they can settle quickly and adjust easily to the school environment.  We have provided a few suggestions for assisting your child during this time.  Remember, the preschool staff will be available to provide support and assistance, making your child’s first school days, happy ones.

  • Prepare your child for the new school experience by conveying a positive attitude. Your enthusiasm will assure the child that school can be fun and exciting. Answer all questions directly and honestly and when you will return.

  • Attend school daily and arrive on time (no later than 7:45 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. for our afternoon students), ready for the day’s learning experience.

  • Establish a routine involving both the night before a school day as well as morning preparation. Read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.

Communication is the key to your child’s success and to a great parent/teacher relationship.  Please continue to check our district's website at www.sd162.org and choose Richton Square under the school options, where we will continue to post updates and expanded information.  Various members of our team will be reaching out to you to confirm registration and transportation information.  Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns at any time as we work together towards an outstanding year at Richton Square School.  Our staff is dedicated to providing students with the skills they need to be successful, our partnership with you in supporting your child is crucial.

In closing, we look forward to meeting you. Times to pick-up your student’s ipad and Covid Testing Kit at Richton Square School will begin this Wednesday, August 17th, from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18th, pick-up times will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd, at 7:45 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. for our afternoon students.

Kindest regards,

Mrs. Kim McGuire, Principal
