E-Learning Instructions (Updated 5/25)

Parents and students,

I wanted to provide an update for social studies e-learning as we wrap up the 4th quarter. This week will be utilized for students to complete any missing work, and also to complete a daily extra credit opportunity. Students are to watch CNN10 daily and complete a brief written summary via the assignment on Google Classroom to receive credit. There will be no Google Meet for either grade level this week.

-I will be available each day during the e-learning schedule from 9 am - 2 pm to answer questions and assist students. Work will be monitored on a daily basis to gauge the progress that students are making. I can be contacted via email (, via Google Classroom (by commenting on the assignment for that day), or via ClassDojo or Remind.

-I understand that these are unprecedented times. Students may be responsible at home for watching siblings or relatives, households with multiple students may need to share technology resources, or other things related to the school closures may come up. If any issues arise that I can accomodate, please reach out at any point. This process works best with open lines of dialogue between home and teacher, and I am more than happy to assist with anything I can.

My name is Mr. Sean O'Connor and I am the Team Blue social studies teacher. I am thrilled to be working with the great children and families of Huth and very much looking forward to sharing my passion for the social sciences while working to instill life and character skills in students. Hopefully, through the studying of social studies, students will leave my class with a more expanded world view, an understanding of how to positively interact with and respect the opinions of others, and become diverse, well-rounded learners with strong work ethic skills.

I am a 2011 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University where I received a BA in history while also playing football for four seasons. Following my time at IWU, I coached football at Robert Morris University before beginning my teaching licensure work at Trinity Christian College in 2013. I then spent the next three school years teaching junior high social studies in the Archdiocese of Chicago, a position I held before joining the Huth family. I am also the head sophomore football coach at Chicago Christian High School where I have coached since 2012. I am incredibly thankful that I can work with children in both the classroom and athletic setting, and I strive to teach the same types of life skills in both of these areas.

I am very excited to be a part of both the O.W. Huth and District 162 family, and I consider it an honor to be working with your child. Together, I hope we can set our children up for great success not only in school, but also in all that they work towards in life. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
