Mr. Sean O'Connor
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Mr. Sean O'Connor and I am the 7th/8th grade gifted social studies teacher. I am thrilled to be working with the great children and families of Huth and very much look forward to sharing my passion for the social sciences while working to instill life and character skills in students. Hopefully, through the studying of social studies, students will leave my class with a more expanded world view, an understanding of how to positively interact with and respect the opinions of others, and become diverse, well-rounded learners with strong work ethic and critical thinking skills.
I am a 2011 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University where I received a BA in history while also playing football for four seasons. Following my time at IWU, I coached football at Robert Morris University before beginning my teaching licensure work at Trinity Christian College in 2013. I then spent the next three school years teaching junior high social studies in the Archdiocese of Chicago, a position I held before joining the Huth family. This past spring I completed my master's degree in Educational Administration at Concordia University. I am also an assistant football coach at Chicago Christian High School where I have coached since 2012. I am incredibly thankful that I can work with children in both the classroom and athletic settings, and I strive to teach the same types of life skills in both of these areas.
I am very proud to be a part of both the O.W. Huth and District 162 family, and I consider it an honor to be working with your child. Together, I hope we can set our children up for great success not only in school, but also in all that they work towards in life. For specifics regarding your child's class, including a social studies syllabus and classroom expectations, please refer to Google Classroom for my class. Do not hesitate to contact me if there are any questions or concerns.
