Greetings and Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! After a brief leave of absence, I am excited about returning to Southland College Prep this year in a new capacity as co-teacher with Mr. Abbott (Algebra), Mr. Goldman (Civics and African American Studies), Mr. Johnson (American Literature), and Mr. Flaherty (U.S. History). I look forward to an exciting year with each of you as we move forward into the current year striving together for academic success.
A little about me. Prior to re-inventing myself as an Educator, I enjoyed a career of over 20 years with Lucent Technologies in Naperville, IL. Since that time, I have re-invented and re-educated myself for a career in Education. I earned my Bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Business Education and hold a Type 09 teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. In 2005 I began substitute teaching for Chicago Public Schools and the University of Chicago Charter Schools while earning a Master's Degree in Educational Technology, and a second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. I have held administrative positions with Chicago Public Schools and City Colleges of Chicago, both in support of students and faculty in the STEM disciplines. My full-time classroom teaching experience includes one other teaching assignment at the Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts). In 2015 I began studying for my Doctorate's Degree in Instructional Leadership.
Suffice to say... I am a lifelong learner! I have set high standards for myself which carry over to the high standards and high expectations I have for all of my students. My goal is to breathe life into our parent-student-teacher relationship by partnering with you to ensure successful outcomes for all students. I am available to meet with parents and/or students upon request, and I look forward to the upcoming school year.
