Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Hello!  2019 is upon us! As we move out the arctic vortex and to the warmer days of spring, History Fair becomes a great focus! The theme this year is "Triumph and Tragedy." Students will be able to pick either an event or person that exemplifies these characteristics and had a significant impact on American History.  Students will be required to use research and analysis skills, writing skills and dive into a deep understanding of their topics.

These projects will be due April 1. And, no, this is not April Fool's Joke!

There will also be a History Fair exhibition after school on April 11 where a select few students will be asked to present their research and analysis to judges.

For more information regarding possible topics, please use the youtube link below for more information:

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!! I am elated to be a part of the 7thand 8thgrade Social Studies (Green) Team.  I am new to the Huth community and look forward to working with students, parents, and staff. Here is a snippet of my educational pathway: I received my bachelors from Xavier University of Louisiana/St. Xavier University in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  Next, I matriculated to expound upon my educational passion and received a Maters from Loyola University in Special Education. Currently, I completed and received my second Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. I am entering into my 9thyear of teaching and have taught an array of subject areas and arenas such as; instructional (self-contained) to co-taught, ELA to Social Science, etc. As I embark on this new school year, I look forward to bringing my strengths, strategies, and methods into the classroom.

Grading Policies

Students will be assessed weekly through tests, quizzes, assignments, projects, and homework. The grade book is weighted. Homework is worth 10% of the overall grade; Tests and Quizzes worth 60%; Classwork, 15% and Projects, 15%. Student’s progress can be viewed on POWER SCHOOL.  All students work is expected on the due date for full credit. All late work will receive point deductions resulting in partial credit. All absent and make-up work must be completed and turned in within the time period equal to the number of days absent from school. Progress reports will be distributed and sent home during mid-quarter.

Power School

Power School provides instant visibility to assignments, scores, grades, comments and progress for each student. I will be using the email feature to keep you informed on assignments for a given day and/or upcoming quizzes, tests, and projects. It is imperative that parents/guardians access their account by signing up in order to receive these updates.

Classwork/Homework Policy

Classwork/Homework is a reinforcement of their instructional day. Homework is classwork that was not completed in class and is due the beginning of the next class. Any homework not completed and in the appropriate bin will be considered LATE. Students get points deducted off of their assignment for late homework. Students are expected to be responsible; therefore all students should work to complete homework and submit it on time. Completing homework assignments properly and on time will help prepare your child for future lessons and success on quizzes and tests in class.
