Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Marlowe

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Reading Room.  My name is Mrs. Marlowe, and this will be my 19th year working at Matteson Elementary School as a Reading Teacher. I attended Governor's State University for my Bachelor's Degree and earned my Master's Degree in Reading at Lewis University.  I have been married for 35 years and have two adult children that now live on their own - Jeff who is 30 and Michelle who is 28.

My passion with teaching reading began as my son entered first grade and I realized that his future success with school was dependent on his ability to read well -  more than anything else. With that, I began researching reading techniques and he became my experimental student. Needless to say, he was successful in school and college and is employed as an IT consultant while working on other certifications. My daughter also became a good reader and received a degree in
Business Administration and works as an adminstrative assistant.

My hobbies include reading, fitness, spending time with family and friends, and during the school year working with your children. Just so you know, when I work with your children, I have the same goals for them as I did my own. I would like to help your children expereince greater success and have a better future by developing effective reading skills and greater confidence in their abilities. Although everyone learns at a different pace, everyone is capable of learning and acheiving goals and that is what is important to remember.

This year I will be working with both first and second grade children and look forward to seeing all of them grow and have a productive and literacy-rich year!

You can contact me at (708)748-0480 or my email if you have questions. questions.
