Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to the Reading Room with Mrs. Marlowe. This will be Mrs. Marlowe's 20th year working at Matteson Elementary School as a Reading Teacher. She attended Governor's State University for her Bachelor's Degree and earned her Master's Degree in Reading at Lewis University. She has been married for 36 years and has two adult children that now live on their own. Her son, Jeff, is 31 and her daughter,Michelle, is 29.
Her passion for teaching reading began as her son entered first grade and she realized that his future success with school was dependent on his ability to read well - more than anything else. With that, she began researching reading techniques and her son became her experimental student. Needless to say, he was successful in school and college and is employed as an IT consultant while working on other certifications. Her daughter also became a good reader and received a degree in Business Administration and works as an administrative assistant.
Her hobbies include reading, fitness, spending time with family and friends, and during the school year working with many of the children here at Matteson School. When she works with your children, she has the same goals for your children as she did her own. She would like to help children experience greater success and have a better future by developing effective reading skills and greater confidence in their abilities. She believes that although everyone learns at a different pace, everyone is capable of learning and achieving goals and that is what is important to remember.
This year she will be working with first grade, second grade, and third grade children and looks forward to seeing all of them grow and have a productive and literacy-rich year!
