HAPPY November!

We are gearing up for our  STAR 360 assessment November 19th, Parent teacher conferences November 25th and 26th and interactive learning experiences that will be sent home with your child during our Thanksgiving Holiday.

Students have received the ELA syllabus that outlines the expectations for the classroom as well as materials needed, classroom management techniques ,extra credit policy, late work policy, explanation of ongoing assignments such as weekly homework vocabulary cards and book letters.  If you have any questions concerning the syllabus please do not hesitate to email me 


What are we up to this month?

With the assistance of our Mypersoectives ,students have been engaged in tailored learning experiences that connect them to the content and to the world through an relatable essential question that drives students to inquire about an big picture idea through informational texts, audio and video analyzation, language convention practice and writing exercises that connect to the 6 traits of writing. 

This month the focus is on authors purpose,persuasive writing techniques, text structure organization , and analyzation.We will continue to work on   analyzation of paired  texts, literary elements , figurative language , Context clues identification, and Vocabulary. We are also are strengthening our reading stamina by readng longer texts .

Star 360 Benchmark 2-using exact path interactive computer program, will continue to work on our goals  weekly as will the  continuation of our Focus Skill small group intervention time based off of our   2nd quarter STAR 360 benchmark results.

Your student will soon be going home with the information on registering with Class DoJo a technology tool the 7th grade team uses to track positive behavior by giving students points for following expectations as well as an awesome way to keep track of daily classroom activities, get updates and reminders about assignments, tests etc.

Extra credit is  available, students should bring in uo to 5 items at 5 pts a piece per quarter for a total of 25 extra credit points. The items we are most in need of are antibacterial wipes and kleenex.

Homework - as always homework is sent home Monday's and is due Friday.

Book Letters are due every 2 weeks- students may use any book they choose as long as it is possesses the literary elements indicated on the book letter rubric . (Novels )
