Dr. Akeima Hall

Welcome to another exciting 1st Grade year! I am Dr. Akeima Hall, First Grade Teacher, mother of three, and wife. Welcome to one of the most incredible years your child will have in his/her school career!  First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated.  First graders develop fundamental work habits, appropriate social behavior, problem solving, decision making and of course academic skills.

Goals for My Students and Classroom:

Always do your personal best
Feel comfortable in the classroom
Always be ready to learn
Positive expectations
Set goals for themselves
Achieve their goals
Love to learn
Proper Behavior Promotes Positive Success

My goal as a teacher is to inspire and challenge students to work harder. I in turn expect them to achieve more than they may think is possible. I became a teacher because I wanted to share my knowledge with others. By bringing energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, I encourage students to commit themselves to practices of lifelong learning while exhibiting my own dedication to the same principle. It is my responsibility to positively promote education; to spark the "enthusiasm to learn" within each student; and to provide the foundation for insight, knowledge, discernment, and wisdom within each individual.  These skills are essential for the growth, prosperity, and conscientious decision-making as they are necessary for our society.

I strive daily to change as many lives as I can while I execute my calling.

This is my 18th year of teaching and third year with Matteson Elementary School District 162. It gives me a great pleasure to work in a district where I have vested interest as a resident and parent of two students in attendance within the district.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, empowering youth and engaging in activities which promote personal and professional development.
