What's up with 8th Grade Math?!?! - Marvelous March

March is almost over and the 3rd quarter is drawing to an end but our education is definitely NOT!  We will be exploring right angles and the Pythagorean Theorem over the next couple days before jumping into the Illinois Assessment for Readiness (IAR) on Tuesday.  Make sure to come prepared and on time each day to make each day successful!

Interesting Pythagoras fact:

Although Pytagoras is cited as the creator of the Pythagorean Theorem, it is actually to have been discovered and used by ancient Babylonian, Indian, Greek and Chinese mathematicians well before his birth.

Pythagoras is cited as one of the first people to attribute that the Earth is, in fact, round.

Mrs. Sheryl Matthews

Welcome everyone. I'm excited to start this new school year with you.

I'm Sheryl Matthews, one of the eighth grade math teachers (green team). This is my first year with District 162 and Huth Middle School. I've taught middle and high school math for the last two years in Chicago. I am energetic and like to show my love of math and teaching. My goal is for everyone to develop their math skills, and their confidence in math and themselves.

I graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Mathematics. I believe that everyone should learn at least one new thing a day and should be open to new ideas.

Feel free to contact me anytime! My door is always open and I would love to hear from you.

I look forward to working with each and everyone one of you.
