Mrs. Cooper

I am thrilled that your child is in my class this year! We are going to learn so many new and exciting things together. Let me begin by sharing a little bit about myself. I recieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from Governors State University. I have been teaching for more than 30 years. I  have had the priviledge of teaching third through eighth grade . Teaching 5th grade has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience.  I think 5th grade is the best grade ever!

I am married and have two adult children. When I am not teaching, writing lesson plans, or grading papers, I enjoy reading, listening to music and watching sports, especially football and basketball.

I am very passionate about teaching. Math and reading are my favorite subjects! I also enjoy making learning fun through projects, games and art. I think it is important to work together as a classroom family. The students will be spending a lot of time together, so it is important that everyone is treated with respect, kindness and compassion. I know that students think and learn differently. Therefore, it is my responsibility as their teacher to help them grow as a learner and a person with good character.

Finally, I believe that communication between home and school is essential to a child’s success in school. We will be working as a team to help your child have a successful year.

I am  looking forward to an exciting and productive school year!
