Mr. Daniel Beal
Hello!
My name is Mr. Daniel Beal and I am excited about beginning my first year of teaching World History at Southland College Prep Charter High School. I have previously taught middle school and high school social studies in Chicago.
I am originally from southern Illinois, where I earned my Bachelors of Art in Political Science at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I then attended law school for one year at Pace University in White Plains, New York. Realizing it wasn't for me, I switched career paths and earned my Master's degree in teaching at St. Xavier University in Chicago. I am currently working on my second Masters at Concordia University-Chicago in order to earn my Principal's endorsement.
I have always been intrigued by history and world events and sculpt my classes to show students that history is so much more than just names and dates. I enjoy connecting historical events to how they still matter and influence our day-to-day modern lives. I encourage students to read into the deeper meanings of events to understand why and how something happened, and what it meant.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, gaming, sports (St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and the Dallas Cowboys). I am an avid coin collector and scy-fy fan. To call myself a huge Beatles fan would be an understatement. I have two cats named Napoleon and Spaghetti that allow me to live in their house.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you all!
