Ron Harrigan
  • Ron Harrigan is the new Director of Bands at Southland College Preparatory High School. In his 14 years of being an educator, Mr. Harrigan has accumulated numerous accolades including 18 Division 1 awards at state level competitions in both jazz and classical categories. His ensembles have also been featured at numerous festivals throughout the Midwest.

    Mr. Harrigan began his teaching career in his native land of the British Virgin Islands (B.V.I.) where he served as an assistant band director and as an assistant choral director at Bregado Flax Educational Center in Valley, Virgin Gorda. He served as an adjunct lecturer of mcis appreciation at H.L. Stoutt Community College in Tortola, B.V.I.

    Mr. Harrigan is a proud graduate (cum laude) of VanderCook College of Music where he studied instrumental music as a trumpet major with Dr. Leah Schuman and Dr. Charles T. Menghini. While attending VanderCook he studied band and choral conducting under the watchful eyes of Stacey Dolan and Dr. Robert L. Sinclair. Mr. Harrigan's notable performance experiences include Moody Church Orchestra, Otis Clay Blues Band, Sherwood Youth Orchestra and the Buddy Rich Tribute Band among many others.

    Mr. Harrigan continues to be an active trumpeter, music producer and arranger. He enjoys working out, listending to music, watching Netflix documentaries and mos of all spending quality time with his loving wife and children.
