Greetings!

My name is Jeff Shimanek and this is my second year as a member of the Southland family. I have a BA in English from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana as well as an MA in secondary education with a focus on special education from National Louis University. I am very excited for our coming year and being able to incorporate online resources into our learning curriculum! Last year I worked with students in Physics, Geometry, Chemistry, Biology, and 21^st Century Technology and this year I am excited to expand into English and Social Sciences. This multi-disciplinary knowledge allows me to support students in a myriad of classes as well as social and life skills. I believe student achievement is dependent on support at school, home, and through the community, and it is my personal goal to foster productive communication between these three areas in order to create encompassing student success.
