Hello! I am the new Spanish teacher here at Illinois and Arcadia School. Let me start by greeting all the parents, alumni and staff of Illinois school. I'm very happy to be part of this school and looking forward in teaching a new language to our students.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I came to the US in 1972. As you know, the US is known for being the country of opportunities. The first day that my siblings and I arrived to this land, my mother told us "We are here to work hard and to keep working hard, we needed to be honest and hard working. Nobody is going to do anything for us, but us! We need to do the right things and have repect for people, respect the country and never stop working hard"
My mother was not an educated woman, but she was a very hard working person and I learned to be a hard working person too. I knew that if I wanted to get anywhere in my life, I needed to follow her example, but also I dreamt of a professional career. It was not easy at all, but I was the 1st one in my family to get Bachelors degree in Spanish and a Master's degree in administration and the development of curriculum. I hae taught Spanish at all levels and I'm very proud to contribute and enrich the minds of our students by sharing the Spanish language, the culture and the skills for our students to expand their horizons.
In today's rapid changing society, learning a second language is a distinct advantage, if not a necessity. Whether your child is learning Spanish for career enhancement or personal enrichment, its my hope that our students will be interested as well as challenged.
