Welcome to the Our 2023-2024 School Year
Welcome to My Teacher Page:
I just want to share with you my dedication to teach students with various learning styles. I take pride in educating students and assisting them with believing in who they are. I teach them to celebrate themselves and to work at your best potential everyday. I teach Strategic Reading and Global Issues. The Strategic Reading class is for students to gain strengths in reading fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension: while using appropriate reading strategies that will empower students to share what they have learned with their surroundings. Students often demonstrate the power within them to read passages they have never been exposed to.
I look forward to sharing my teaching experience with students during this transformative global society. Whether we are teaching and learning remotely or using the Hybrid model. Learning Is The Expectation during ALL learning platforms.
I am a graduate of South Suburban College (South Holland, IL), AS in Liberal Arts and Sciences. I am a graduate of St. Xavier University (Chicago), with a B.A. in Speech Pathology, and I am a graduate of Ashford University (California), a M.A. in Special Education. I would also like to share that I have had the distinct honor of having one of my students become a National READ 180 recipient at Southland (2018). As a result of this momentous occasion, As a gift to my classroom, the students were awarded more books to include in our classroom library.
If you would like to contact me, please send your emails to: khopkins@scphs.org
I would like to share a quote that has important relevance to my students:
"Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him."
