Ms. Stephanie Drozd
Hello, and welcome to Ms. D's classroom page! You can pronounce my name "D-rohz-d" or just call me Ms. D. This is my fourth year with Southland, and what a year we've had! This year I am once again teaching Introduction to Speech and Drama, along with Theatre 1, 2, and 3. I will also continue as a coach for the amazing Southland Speechies (Go Sharks!). This year I hope to help students find their voice, explore their surroundings, and empower them to tell their stories as only they know how.
My educational background includes two B.A.s in secondary education from Eastern Illinois University, one in Theatre Arts and one in English Language Arts, and an M.S. in Theatre Studies from Illinois State University. Prior to working with Southland I worked as a tutor and substitute or teaching assistant across the great state of Illinois, including in Aurora, Peoria, Bloomington/Normal, Bartonville, and Naperville. I have also worked as a director for teen shows and a drama teacher for all ages with the Fox Valley Park District, as well as an Artistic Associate for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. My passions include directing, dramaturgy, improv, and history. I also enjoy bike riding, swimming, and reading.
As for my students, remember: No one has a voice quite like yours, so let the world hear it.
