Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Karen Hopkins
Welcome to my page,
I just want to share with you my dedication to teach students with various learning styles. I take pride in educating students and assisting them with believing in who they are. I teach them to celebrate themselves and to work at your best potential daily. I teach READ 180, a class for students to gain strengths in reading fluency, while using appropriate reading strategies daily. Students often demonstrate the power within them to read passages they have never read before. I am a graduate of South Suburban College (South Holland, IL), AS in Liberal Arts and Sciences. I am a graduate of St. Xavier University (Chicago), with a B.A. in Speech Pathology, and I am a graduate of Ashford University (California), a M.A. in Special Education. I would also like to share that I have had the distinct honor of having one of my students become a National READ 180 recipient at Southland. As a result of this momentous occasion, The students in my class were awarded More books to include in our classroom library. I would like to share a quote that has important relevance to my students:
"Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him."
