Mr. Ramadan-Blue Team
7th and 8th Grade Science
Hello Everyone! My name is Jay Ramadan and I have the pleasure of being your child’s Science teacher this year. I believe that every child can learn and be successful. This class will be exciting, engaging, and encouraging. Students will be empowered to become active participants in this learning environment. I desire for all my students to present their best effort and beyond daily! The instructional plans and goals of this class are closely aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include:
7th Grade- Scientific Method, Living Things, Cells, Human Body/Processes, Genetics, Evolution and Ecosystems.
8th Grade- Scientific Method, Matter, States of Matter, Chemical Reactions, Atoms, Forces, and Energy.
Course Description: The majority of the course work will be done in class. Students will record entries such as their vocabulary and notes in their Science journals daily. Projects will be used to assess student learning and will require some time at home to complete. Paper and pencil assessments will be given on a consistent basis to evaluate student learning.
- Spiral Notebook (Preferably Blue)
- 3 Ring Binder (Preferably Blue)
- Tab Dividers
- Sharpened pencils, blue or black pens
- Outside reading book of student’s choice
Throughout the year students will need additional supplies to enhance their learning that will be not be provided by the teacher. I would really appreciate it, if you would donate these additional supplies of your choice for our classroom:
- Construction Paper
- Glue or Glue sticks
- Hand Soap
Note: Students will be responsible on occasion to provide supplies to complete their Science Labs.

In order to ensure effective learning and teaching, I expect students to choose appropriate behaviors such as:

✔ Choosing to be Prepared
✔ Choosing to be Responsible
✔ Choosing to be Respectful
After reading these expectations, you may ask yourself, “What does that mean?”
✔ Choosing to learn:
o Students are actively following along with teacher during class instruction.
o Students practice skills taught during independent practice and ask questions to clarify any concerns.
o Students are not talking or being disruptive during class instruction.
o Students’ heads are held up and their posture shows they are actively attentive during class instruction.
✔ Choosing to be prepared:
o Students come to class with required materials:
▪ For example: sharpened pencils/pens, AGENDA, etc.
o Students have materials on their tables.
✔ Choosing to be responsible:
o Students do what they are supposed to do when they are supposed to do it, following the procedures that they have been requested to follow the 1stTIME given.
o Students practice self-control and self-discipline at all times.
o Students bring back signed papers, progress reports, agendas and etc. the date is due.
✔ Choosing to be respectful:
o Students treat others as they would like to be treated.
▪ No racial remarks, talking about one another academically or socially
o Students deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements.
▪ NO PROFANITY or using the words SHUT UP.
o Students are tolerant of differences.
o Students take care of personal, school, and teacher’s property.
▪ No writing on any school property or destroying school property.
o STUDENTS WILL ELIMINATE ALL DISRESPECTFUL VERBAL AND NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION WHEN REDIRECTED!!!!!!
Student Discipline Plan
The classroom choices are as follows:
- CHOOSE TO LEARN
- CHOOSE TO BE PREPARED
- CHOOSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE
- CHOOSE TO BE RESPRECTFUL
However, if the student chooses not to follow the classroom choices, these are the consequences:
- First Time: Verbal Warning
- Second Time: Student Conference
- Third Time: Change of Seat/Parent Contact
- Fourth Time: Removal of class to another teacher’s room within the team/ Parent Contact
- REMOVAL OF CLASS TO ANOTHER TEACHERS ROOM WITHIN THE TEAM (CALL/NOTIFY PARENT OF BEHAVIOR & THAT STUDENT WAS REMOVED FROM CLASS)
When students choose to follow the classroom choices, the rewards are as follows:
- Daily Praise
- Positive notes home
- Higher self-esteem
- Maturity through responsibility
- Proud family members
- Whole class rewards
Students will be redirected each and every time bad choices are made and this will affect their quality of instruction.
Notes to Parents:
As a consistent form of communication please check and sign (when needed) your child’s agenda daily.
Blue Team Discipline Plan
The Blue team strives to keep positive behavior a priority in our daily routine. However, despite the hard work from our students and teachers, behavior infractions do occur. Our rules and disciplinary procedures have been established to limit interferences within the learning environment. Students are expected follow these rules. Our goal is for each student to learn to be responsible for his/her own actions. It is important for parents, school, staff, and students to work together to maintain a positive educational atmosphere.
Classroom Rules and Expectation:
Raise your hand and wait to be recognized
Everyone listens when others speak
Speak with respect- treat others like you want to be treated
Please keep hands, feet, and belongings to yourself
Each direction should be followed the first time it is given
Come to class with assignment notebook, textbook, and other supplies
Take your seat when you enter the classroom
Consequences: Failure to follow these rules will result in the students being placed on the following disciplinary track:
1. Verbal Warning
2. Student Conference
3. Change of Seat
4. Removal from class to another teacher’s room within team.(CALL/NOTIFY PARENT OF BEHAVIOR & THAT STUDENT WAS REMOVED FROM CLASS)
5. IF DISRUPTION CONTINUES, COMPLETE DISCIPLINE REFERRAL FORM

I am committed to making this a successful year to me. My behavior will not interfere with my learning. I understand that behavior is a choice and for every choice, whether good or bad, there is a consequence. Therefore I will not whine and complain when I receive consequences for my bad decisions.
