Welcome,

This is my sixth year at Southland College Prep High School, and I am very excited to be here. I teach African American Literature (English III standard and honors levels) and AP Language & Composition for junior students. I am also the English department chair. This is my 18th year of teaching. I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education and a Master's degree in English. Reading and writing are my passions, and I hope to instill those same passions in my students. I am a rigorous teacher, so the class is challenging. I have no doubt that my students can not only meet but exceed those challenges. Students will have a weekly homework sheet that will be checked daily. I utilize Google Classroom for handouts and some assignments. I believe that the lines of communication among teacher, parents, and students should be open, so I welcome all parents and students to reach out to me either via email at DEpson@scphs.org or direct message on Google Classroom.
