Course goals, as set forth in the National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S), are:
- Students will acquire digital literacy skills they need for elementary, secondary, higher learning and the 21st century workforce.
- Students will understand, practice and apply online safety and responsible digital citizenship.
- Students will develop technological skills and the ability to select the right tool for the context, task, and audience.
- Students will locate and access information, evaluate information critically and competently, and utilize information effectively and ethically.
- Students will access, analyze, evaluate and create media in various forms.
- Students will conduct exploratory and guided research.
- Students will meet NETS-S which include:

- Process data and report results
- Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making: Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.
- Identify and define authentic problems and significant questions for investigation
- Plan and manage activities to develop a solution or complete a project
- Collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions

- Digital Citizenship:Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.
