  • Lusk/Spalla Box Activity

    Box Box Box Box

Architecture, construction and cause and effect became the thoughts for the day as we took a variety of boxes to the gym to create as tall of a building as we could.  Preschoolers in Mrs . Lusk and Mrs. Spalla’s class used what they learned from their study of boxes to make a tower that did not fall down.  They had to make guesses and anticipate if one box placed on another would fall down or balance in just the right way.   Each got a chance to choose a box to balance on top of the tower.  It was built so high that a ladder was used to complete it.  Also the students used themselves as a form of measurement to calculate how many boxes in length matched that of the preschoolers when they lay down next to the boxes.  Finally students used the boxes to create a maze to walk around as they finished their activity.

Each month we will focus on a Book of the Month.  At the end of the month, the children will bring home their new book for them to read and complete activities with their family.  The books will be theirs to keep to help build their at home library.  At the end of the school year child will have 12 new books added to their home library.  We hope you are as excited as we are about exploring new books, and teaching the children the love of reading.
