Classroom Expectations:

We would like to welcome you and your child to 2nd Grade. We are looking forward to working with you as we watch your child achieve and succeed throughout the school year!

In order to ensure your child’s success, we will need your help. Please feel free to call or email us if you have any questions or concerns. You are welcome to visit us at work. In addition, we would like to invite you to volunteer your time and talents to our classroom. Volunteers are a crucial part of a successful classroom. Remember to let us know if you are available.

Be sure to attend all Parent Teacher Conferences!!

We will communicate with you via phone and notes home. Your child will also have a communication notebook (A RED TAKE HOME FOLDER). In this folder, we will write notes to you and please feel free to write notes to me about your child. The communication folder is to stay in your child’s book bag at all times. Be sure to tell your child if there is a note for me on their communication log. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to call us at (708) 748-0480 ext. 4235.

Please check folders daily. Place folders in book bags at night so they are not forgotten.

Your child will bring a homework packet home on Friday of each week.  The packet will be due the following Friday.  Our class will have weekly tests and the work in the packet will assist in the preparation for the assessments.

Please refer to the building wide school discipline plan.

    Our School Rules

Our school is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other.

    • Be respectful and responsible
    • Be organized and follow directions
    • Be prepared
    • Be on time
    • Keep your hands, feet, and all other objects to yourself

We will have a nutrition break mid-morning every day. Be sure to send a healthy snack to school with your child.

Suggestions: pretzels, grapes, carrots, saltines, rice cakes, celery, cut up apples or raisins

    Transportation Home

If your child will be going home in a different way (i.e. getting a ride instead of taking the bus) make sure you send a written note or call the office. Without a written note, we must send the child home the regular way.

You may send treats to school on your child’s birthday.  Please do not send cupcakes. We have offered some healthy choices above.  Fruit snacks are also allowed.  You will need to check into the office before bringing the treats to the room. According to school rules, the treats must be store bought.

    Book Orders

Your child will be bringing home a form to order books about once a month. If you wish to order, please fill out the form and send a check made out to the book company for the exact amount. No cash please! These orders are provided as a way for parents to buy quality books for their child at an inexpensive price. As a bonus, for every dollar spent, I receive bonus points. These points will be used to buy books for classroom use. There is no obligation to buy.

Be sure to join the PTO. The PTO plans wonderful activities for our school and students.

By working together, we can create a happy and productive environment for your child.

We are looking forward to serving your family this school year.
