Mr. Ian Holst
Welcome to another exciting school year at Illinois School. My name is Ian Holst and I am excited to be teaching your children as they enter fifth grade. Although new to District 162, I am not new to teaching. I am entering my fifth year of teaching after spending many years in various management positions at small businesses throughout the south suburbs. I received my Bachelors of Education degree from Governors State University in 2013 and began teaching in South Holland at Christ Our Savior Catholic School. There, I had fifth grade as my homeroom and taught math and science to grades 3-4-5 as well as taking over the responsibilities of running student council. I am thrilled to continue in a similiar role at Illinois as the fifth grade math and science teacher. I have been married for six years and we just welcomed our first child to this world in August of 2018, a healthy and happy little boy named Augie. As we enter fifth grade, we are embarking on a path towards more independence in school and home assignments as well as transitioning into the Junior High stages of our childrens education. We will continue to develop a strong work ethic, promote healthy and meaningful social development and decision making skills, and as always, build effective problem solving and academic abilities. I look forward to working with the strong Illinois staff and parents of my students closely as we strive to develop excellence in each and every one of our students.
