ARCADIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: HOME OF THE SCHOLARS & LEADERS
A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL
WHERE EXCELLENCE IS THE EXPECTATION!
This Week at Arcadia
On Tuesday, February 14, ALL Arcadia students will participate in Friendship Day, a hands-on learning experience filled with team building tasks and STREAM (Science Technology Reading Engineering Art and Math) challenges.
To sweeten the learning experience, please send a sweet treat on or before February 14 for the students in your child's class to take home. There are 24 students (or less in each classroom). Please continue to send treats that are individually wrapped and peanut free. Ideas include: individually pre-wrapped candy, pretzels or popcorn, fruit snacks, lollipops, pencils, erasers, small toys, etc.
If you are interested in volunteering for this themed day at Arcadia School, please notify your child’s teacher immediately.
AGENDA FOR THE DAY
- Grade Level STREAM challenge: This includes a story on friendship and a STREAM Lab. The labs focus on working together to solve critical thinking questions. The kindergarten, first, and second grade labs focus on science and problem solving while the third and fourth grade labs focus on mathematics, reading, and problem solving.
- Team Building Time: These are quick (10 minutes each), physical challenges that can only be mastered with kindness, acceptance, communication, and collaboration.
- Friendship Day Exchange: This is the time (designated by the teacher) where students will exchange positive notes about each other and small tokens of friendship (including individually wrapped, store-bought treats from their peers).
